Google X's new "graduate": This company specializes in network security services

January 25 news, according to Reuters, Alphabet disclosed its new subsidiary Chronicle, the main network security business. The X incubator founded the Chronicle project as early as February 2016 to develop digital "immune systems" for users. Chronicle became the third subsidiary of Alphabet, which was spun off from the X incubator. The two subsidiaries that had previously “incubated” were the self-driving company Waymo and life science company Verily. Now these three companies are independent companies operating alongside Google. Symantec's former COO Stephen Gillett served as Chief Executive Officer of Chronicle. He said that the software developed by Chronicle is used to analyze the data used by corporate computers and to identify malicious programs in infiltrating systems. This technology is being tested in some of Fortune 500 companies. However, the exact number of companies was not disclosed. In 2012 VirusTotal, a virus scanning tool that Google purchased, was also incorporated into Chronicle's products. Alphabet hopes to continuously expand its influence in the enterprise technology market. The sale of cybersecurity services reflects its efforts in this area. Compared to Amazon's cloud computing infrastructure, Google is far behind. In terms of cloud services and office efficiency software, Google is also far inferior to Microsoft. However, Google is investing heavily in these businesses and hopes to increase revenue sources beyond the online advertising business. (Xi Chen)
