Common HID lamps are HID nano lamps, HID mercury lamps and HID metal halide lamps (referred to as metal halide lamps). Metal halide lamp is the most promising high-tech product in the electric light source industry. It is the highest technical level of the electric light source industry and a very important lamp in high-intensity gas discharge lamps (HID). Due to its high luminous efficiency, good light color and energy saving, metal halide lamps are the first choice for green lighting projects. At present, metal halide lamps are mainly used in the field of floodlighting in stadiums, machine-taste stations, ports and urban lighting projects. With the development of metal halide lamps market and technological advancement, metal halide lamps will be widely used in urban roads and businesses. It is widely used in supermarkets and industrial and mining lighting, and has a very large market development space.
Metal halide lamp market analysis
In 2002, China's ordinary incandescent lamp output was 3.72 billion, with 750 million auto lamps, 870 million tungsten halogen lamps, 1.43 billion fluorescent lamps and 67 million HID lamps. In recent years, the structure of electric light source products has gradually become more reasonable, and the energy-efficient electric light source products have grown by a large margin, while the ordinary incandescent lamp products have basically maintained the original level. The reason for the rapid growth of HID lamps is that the demand for domestic lighting market is growing, and the second is the increase in export volume. Among the HID lamps, high-pressure mercury lamps and high-pressure sodium lamps grew steadily, and the fastest growth was metal halide lamps, an increase of 40%.

HID ballast
HID lamps are gas discharge lamps, so to light the lamp and work properly, a ballast must be used to work. This ballast is called a HID ballast. HID ballasts are available in both inductive and electronic versions. HID electronic ballast is a kind of electronic ballast, its circuit is more complicated, and the requirements are also very high. It belongs to the kind of electronic ballast with the highest technical content.
The electronic HID ballast is still limited to the small power field, generally 20-150W for a segment, 150-400W for the second segment, and 400W or more is basically the world of magnetic ballasts. Even in this small segment, the survival of electronic HID ballasts is not optimistic. There are three main reasons: 1. The technology is not mature, and it is listed without sufficient verification. 2, not based on the premise of reliability, low-cost competition, that the price is low, there is a common market 3, the lack of technical support of large-scale lighting manufacturers. Domestic electronic ballast enterprises are generally weak, and the smallest is only a few people. Electronic ballasts are not products that small businesses can “playâ€. They don’t depend on large-scale lighting companies, and it’s difficult to survive. The same is true for electronic HID ballasts for PHILIPS and OSRAM.
