Wargaming, the developer behind the popular game "Tank World," is collaborating with the Bovington Tank Museum, the UK's largest tank museum, to create an immersive mixed reality (MR) experience featuring the iconic "Sturmtiger" tank. According to the developers, they're utilizing advanced technologies like Microsoft’s HoloLens and Google Tango to bring this experience to life. The goal is to provide players with an interactive and educational way to explore one of history's most fascinating war machines.
As stated by Wargaming, users will have the opportunity to view a detailed 3D model of the "Assault Tiger" tank, examine its components up close, and even virtually remove parts of its armor for comparison. There will be slow-motion animations showing how the tank fires, providing insights into its mechanics and power. Watching the tank come alive in MR feels incredibly engaging, almost as if you’re standing right next to it in real life.
While this isn’t a traditional game demo, the potential is undeniable. For instance, Microsoft’s "My World" MR demo and custom MR versions of games like "Super Mario" have already showcased the immense possibilities MR holds for gaming. It would be fantastic if Wargaming could apply similar concepts to "World of Tanks," offering players a completely new and innovative way to interact with their favorite game.
