Optoelectronic News Network: Does the financial crisis affect you?
Su Zunhui: The impact is there. We felt the breath of the recession in the second half of 2007. For example, the 7-inch LED backlight at the time was originally $7/piece, and later dropped to around $7/piece. However, our income in 2007 has grown considerably. At present, Diguang is currently adjusting its product structure and organizational structure according to market demand to cope with the current economic situation.
Optoelectronic News Network: How to look at the prospects of the Chinese market?
Su Zunhui: Under the influence of the financial crisis, the focus of the entire LED market is gradually shifting to Asia, and the Chinese market and Southeast Asian countries are relatively less affected. In addition, the future of LED backlights is still relatively promising. Now almost all backlights below 19 inches are LEDs, and 26-inch, 32-inch, 42-inch LED backlights are gradually being developed.
Our current products are mainly exported, and Tianma, LG and other companies are our customers. At present, the quality and technical indicators of LEDs manufactured in China still need to be improved. For example, the luminous efficiency of commercial-grade LEDs is not high. The white light is 80-90 lumens/watt, and the luminous efficiency of foreign commercial-grade LEDs has reached 130 lumens/watt. Now we are working with the Chinese Academy of Sciences to develop and produce 130 lumens/watt LED chips in China.
Optoelectronic News Network: Have you encountered any problems in technology?
Su Zunhui: Intellectual property issue. Must have its own patents. At present, Diguang has applied for 55 patents at home and abroad, of which 28 patents are authorized. For patents, we have specialized people to collect relevant information. When we first entered this market, we attached great importance to this issue. If you don't have your own patent, you won't have your own core competitiveness.
At present, from the material, packaging to application, although the whole industry chain has done a lot in China, it is not doing well, and the organic integration of the industry chain is still not very good. Currently, it is from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Industry to Shenzhen. The municipal government, the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Bureau, the Science and Technology Bureau, the Economic and Trade Bureau and other relevant units are planning and issuing a number of measures to promote the development of this industry.
In terms of LCD LED backlighting, China is actively planning, and has begun to cooperate with some countries and regions to start planning and developing technical standards for backlights. At present, the Ministry of Industry and Information Industry has taken the lead in planning seven backlight standards. After the whole set of standards came out, we strive to upgrade them to international standards.
Intellectual property is in the hands of others, we grow up, others tell us. If we have the patent right, we have the space for the Chinese to develop themselves. In the future, the plaintiff about intellectual property litigation may be Chinese.
