US media: Americans do not like Huawei's mobile phone sales are worrying

Not long ago, the domestic mobile phone maker Huawei released the latest flagship smart phone Mate 9, although the machine did not catch up with the double 11 but did not miss the long shopping season in the West. Previously, Huawei Yu Chengdong believes that Mate will have very good sales in Western countries, including the US market. However, such beauty may not happen before January 2017.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Huawei will have little success in the US market in the short term. First of all, Mate 9's pricing is too high, the market price is more than $ 500, more expensive than many flagships. Furthermore, many Americans know that Huawei is a very unpopular handset maker in the country.

As early as 2012, the U.S. Congress suggested that major local operators should avoid using Huawei equipment to build networks as much as possible, mainly worrying about the "spy" problem. Although Huawei later denied all doubts and allegations, and successfully convinced US operators to help Huawei sell handsets, Huawei’s handsets are still not easy to sell. First, US consumers still have concerns about privacy disclosure, and secondly, barriers related to network support. , Mate 9 customized Kirin mobile chip, the baseband attached does not support Verizon and Sprint's CDMA network.

In addition, neither Verizon nor Sprint, the two operators, have so far had any inclination to help Huawei sell flagship smart phones. This has resulted in only two major operators in the United States, AT&T and T-Mobile, supporting Huawei. Unfortunately, Huawei has not been able to reach an agreement with T-Mobile operators because of several patent disputes. Therefore, only AT&T's only operator will be able to open the Mate 9 flagship.

Although Huawei is currently the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world with a market share of 9.4%, Huawei is not the mainstream smartphone brand in the United States. In 2016, third-party agencies accounted for only 0.4% of Huawei’s market share in the United States. And in the high-end market, Apple (39% share) and Samsung (22% share) two brands almost completely occupy the dominant position, it is hard to say whether Mate 9 can change the situation after joining the competition.

The Wall Street Journal concluded that after Huawei’s actual distribution of Mate 9 in the United States, Amazon and some US-based retailers may help Huawei to sell mobile phones. But after all, Mate 9 is not a product that American consumers can’t afford today. With long-term rooting in the US mobile phone market, Huawei still needs enough patience.
