Each story centers around individuals whose lives are both ordinary and extraordinary. One highlights an elderly man who spent 40 years collecting trash to build a “garbage cathedral.†Another follows a local in Iceland who offers a unique Airbnb experience for viewing the Northern Lights. There's also a jazz singer in New Orleans who has kept her family’s musical legacy alive for 60 years, and a diving instructor in Norway who dances with orcas and explores shipwrecks. Using panoramic cameras, Zhao brings viewers into the daily lives of these remarkable people, offering a rare and intimate perspective.

Beyond the compelling narratives, the visual design of the "Voyage" VR series is equally impressive. Despite his extensive background in traditional filmmaking, Zhao admits that working on "The Adventures" was full of challenges. The hardware wasn’t fully developed, and VR filming was still in its infancy, with no established guidelines to follow. But he embraced the role of a pioneer, believing that someone had to take the first step. “These kinds of explorations always require someone to do it,†he said. “And I’m glad it was me.â€
