SMIC’s revenue for the first half of the year was US$723 million, a slight increase of 0.4% year-on-year. The increase was mainly due to the increase in template revenues and the significant change in China’s sales. The number of shipped wafers decreased by 2.4% from 945,654 8-inch equivalent wafers to 922,783 8-inch equivalent wafers.
SMIC’s gross profit for the first half of the year was US$119 million, compared with US$108 million in gross profit for the same period last year. Gross profit margin increased from 15.1% in the same period last year to 16.5%. The increase in gross profit margin was mainly due to the decrease in expenditure in 2011.
