Eight color TV companies in the mainland will purchase 4.5 billion U.S. dollars worth of panels from Taiwan

The reporter learned from the “Seminar on Cross-Strait High-tech Industry Cooperation in 2012” held in Taipei yesterday that this year, the eight color TV companies in the Mainland will purchase 30 million TV panels from Taiwan's panel makers, and the purchase amount is expected to reach US$4.5 billion. At the meeting, color TV companies such as Skyworth, TCL, Hisense, Changhong, Konka, Panda Electronics, and Xoceco signed panel purchase intents and strategic cooperation agreements with Taiwan's panel makers Chi Mei and AU Optronics.

It is understood that the number and amount of panels purchased by the eight color TV companies in the Mainland in recent years have continued to grow. In 2008, the purchase volume was less than 10 million pieces and the purchase amount was less than 2 billion US dollars. In 2011 it increased to more than 26 million pieces and more than 4 billion US dollars.

According to Bai Weimin, vice president of the China Electronics and Video Industry Association, it should not be confined to just staring at the purchasing figures. Related enterprises on both sides of the strait should further intensify deeper cooperation in the formulation of industrial common standards. This will help the two sides of the strait to work together to enhance industrial competitiveness. And the global market share is of great significance.
