On November 7, IDC, the famous international research institution, released the results of the survey of China's public cloud PaaS market in the first half of 2017. AWS and Alibaba Cloud belong to the world's first companies to develop cloud computing services. After completing the technology accumulation of IaaS, they began to develop into PaaS. Alibaba Cloud can compete with these overseas companies and fully dominate the two major markets of IaaS and PaaS, mainly thanks to Alibaba's long-term investment in core technology and verification of its own three-dimensional business scenarios.
Taking the database product of the PaaS layer as an example, Alibaba independently developed the first database of China's independent intellectual property rights, OceanBase, which broke the monopoly of overseas companies. Not long ago, Ma Yun announced the establishment of a global research institute "Dharma Institute", and invested 100 billion yuan in technology research and development in the next three years. According to a report released by research institute PwC, Alibaba's R&D investment is expected to reach US$2.5 billion this year, ranking first among Chinese companies.
