In a recent exhibition, the first demonstration line showcasing fully integrated Industry 4.0 production technology developed by the Foshan Robotics Institute made its debut. This U-shaped USB drive production line is a remarkable example of how modern manufacturing can be streamlined and automated. The process starts with an order being received, which triggers a 3D modeling system to generate a product design. Once the design is ready, the central production system automatically plans the workflow, assigning tasks to specific stations and managing material flow accordingly.
A robotic arm precisely picks up the raw material while another performs an internal inspection. If everything checks out, both arms work in sync for rapid processing, completing the task in just two or three minutes. The seamless coordination between machines highlights the power of smart automation.
Although the final product is a small USB drive, the demonstration line is composed of multiple units, including an order experience center, logistics and warehousing, machine assembly, personalization, 3D printing, injection molding, inspection and assembly, as well as packaging and labeling. It integrates advanced technologies such as industrial robots, 3D printing, simulation software, unmanned handling systems, and manufacturing execution management systems.
This model line represents a complete integration of production, assembly, customization, inspection, transportation, and storage for intelligent 3C products. It demonstrates how the Industrial Internet, small-batch manufacturing, virtual reality, and augmented reality can be used to achieve energy tracking and digitalization of the entire production process.
The demonstration line features a variety of domestic and international industrial robots, with one standout being the Tiantai TT6-800 robot. As the only Chinese-made robot selected for this project, it plays a crucial role in the initial stage of the production line. It takes the plastic casing of the USB drive from the injection molding machine, places it at the designated station, identifies it through visual recognition, and then transfers it to an AGV cart for the next step. The entire process is smooth, flexible, and highly efficient.
Though it only handles one part of the process, the Tiantai robot showcases essential elements required for real-world applications, including communication between robots and injection molding machines, vision control, precise positioning, and information exchange with AGVs. Its performance reflects high accuracy, flexibility, and extensive practical experience.
As the sole representative of Chinese robots on this global stage, the Tiantai robot competes alongside top-tier international brands, proving its maturity, stability, and reliability. This achievement not only highlights the growing strength of China's robotics industry but also reinforces the sense of national pride.
