Western Digital Says Thailand Plants Can Recover to Pre-Flood Levels Before September

Western Digital Chief Executive John Coyne said on Tuesday that the company expects the two factories in Thailand will return to pre-flood production levels by September.

Western Digital's Bang-Pa-in plant in Ayutthaya, a province in central Thailand, resumed production on November 30 last year and it is expected that the plant in Navanakorn near Bangkok will resume production in March this year.

Koiney said: "The company's current focus is to restore production and provide support for customers." He added that floods in Thailand have reduced Western Digital's hard drive output by 30%.

Koine believes that the impact of flooding in Thailand is only temporary, and the company welcomes the Thai government’s plans to improve the Thai water management system.

After the flooding in Thailand, Western Digital's hard disk factories located in the Bang Pa-in Industrial Park in Ayutthaya Province and the Navanakorn Industrial Park in Pathum Thani Province were severely damaged by floods. It is expected that the supply of hard disks will be tight. At least until the beginning of this year.
