Application of low-height road lighting scheme in U-shaped trough interchange project

The intersection of Yuhang Century Avenue and 09 Provincial Highway in Hangzhou is located at the junction of Nanyuan Street and Qiaosi Town in the southwest corner of Linping City. The current situation is T-shaped level crossing.

The transformation design plan is to go through the Century Avenue on the main line of Provincial Highway 09, and set up the auxiliary road to communicate with Century Avenue. The length of the 09 provincial road is 770 meters. The lower section structure is provided with open section U-shaped groove and dark buried section box culvert. The main structure of the railway box culvert remains unchanged. Only the existing non-motor vehicle culverts and new pipeline box culverts on the west side are partially reconstructed. The motor vehicle lane clearance is 5 meters, and the non-machine and sidewalk clearance is 2.5 meters. After the transformation, Provincial Highway No. 09 and Century Avenue are the main roads of the city. The designed speed is 60 km/h for the main line and 40 km/h for the auxiliary line. The design period is 15 years for the asphalt pavement, 100 years for the bridge and culvert, and the project land area is about 14 mu. The investment is 106 million yuan.

The implementation of the project has positive significance for improving the traffic capacity of the intersection, improving driving conditions and reducing vehicle fuel consumption.

Lighting Design

Scheme design one:

The original design uses conventional street lighting in accordance with the current lighting scheme. The specific arrangement is to use the road in the U-shaped trough section to pick up the street light, and the ground auxiliary road adopts one pick and one hanging street light to illuminate the motor vehicle lane and the non-motor vehicle lane and the sidewalk respectively, and the intersection adopts a high pole light. The tunnel section (the frame box culvert part) is illuminated by a dedicated tunnel light, arranged in a double row, located at the chamfer of the frame structure.

The reconstruction projects of the various sections of the 09 Provincial Highway and the Century Avenue (09 Provincial Highway ~ Shida Line) project have all adopted the conventional high pole light style. This arrangement can maintain the overall consistency, but in the U-shaped groove section. The middle double-pick high pole light is gradually reduced relative to the ground, which has a certain influence on the overall landscape and style.

Scheme design two:

The design of the tunnel section (frame box culvert part) is the same as that of the scheme 1. For the U-shaped trough section, according to the current treatment of several similar projects in Hangzhou, the lighting fixtures are installed on the side wall of the U-shaped trough, and the tunnel light is usually installed. With embedded installation). However, this type of installation has problems such as insufficient road illumination, especially uneven illumination. The main reason is that the current conventional lamps (including tunnel lights) are designed according to the high-bar installation method, and the range of illumination can be guaranteed only at a certain installation height.

A similar problem exists in the U-slot portion of other tunnels. Through various market research, the designer has carried out detailed design of the lighting of the U-shaped groove part, especially the careful study of the lamp part, and proposed the following design.

In the U-slot range, Thorn's latest low-bar light ORUS lighting scheme is used, and the installation height of the fixture is only 90cm away from the road surface. This kind of luminaire adopts the revolutionary Flat Beam flat-light patent technology, which has better floodlighting effect and ensures the illumination and uniformity of the road surface. Since the concealed height is only 90cm, which is lower than the normal driving line of sight, glare can be effectively avoided, and the later maintenance is very convenient, which can effectively avoid the impact of street lamp maintenance on traffic.

At present, such lamps are used in Shenzhen, Wuhan, Changzhou and Taiyuan, and are mainly used for lighting in interchanges. Since the height of the street lamp is only 90cm, the street light pole is basically invisible, which is also advantageous for the road landscape. The U-shaped groove range is equipped with low-light pole lighting fixtures in the central isolation zone, and the street lights of the ground auxiliary roads are still arranged with conventional high pole lights. The layout of the scheme avoids the poor visual effect of the high and low undulations of the high-light poles on the road. The streetlights installed by the low-light poles have good visual orientation; the ground-guided high-light poles can be consistent with the front and rear standard sections and the Century Avenue.

Intersection and interior lighting:

The range of this intersection is relatively large. It is recommended to use the four-corner arrangement of high pole lights to illuminate the intersection range. The professional tunnel lighting is used in the frame to ensure the lighting effect.

The final implementation effect:

The project was completed at the end of November 2010. Due to the short pole, the fixtures are very concealed. The impact on the overall landscape during the day is very small. If the dealers do not pay attention, they will not feel the presence of street lamps. But in the evening, the light from the luminaires sends a sharp light, and the road surface is very clear, which provides great convenience for driving induction and safety.
