2017 was a pivotal year for AI, marked by rapid advancements and growing recognition of its potential. In the same year, the Chinese State Council officially released the "New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan," elevating "artificial intelligence" from a buzzword to a national priority.
To better understand the AI era and explore the real progress being made in the industry, Netease Smart Studios launched an exclusive series called “AI Heroes†in 2017. Through in-depth interviews with nearly a hundred key figures in the AI field, they provided insights into cutting-edge technologies, emerging trends, and the opportunities brought by the "intelligent + " era.
Building on the success of the AI Heroes initiative, Netease Smart News and Netease Technology jointly launched the “2017 AI Heroes Billboard†campaign—a large-scale selection event to recognize outstanding individuals who have contributed significantly to AI research, innovation, and commercialization.
The AI Heroes Billboard features six awards across four categories: Technology Innovation Award, Outstanding Contribution Award, and Business Innovation Awards in finance, healthcare, automotive, and hardware. These awards celebrate both researchers and entrepreneurs who are driving the AI revolution forward.
The selection process will combine public voting through the Netease News app with expert panel evaluations. More details about the rules will be announced in mid-October.
