At the recent Microsoft Ignite Technology Conference, PTC made an exciting announcement: they are working closely with Microsoft to develop a corporate mixed reality (MR) experience using the HoloLens. This collaboration aims to provide customers with a powerful tool for creating immersive, hands-free MR applications. The ThingWorx Studio MR production publishing tool will be at the core of this effort, becoming the go-to solution for developers looking to build engaging HoloLens experiences.
ThingWorx Studio, powered by Vuforia, offers local support for HoloLens users, enabling them to quickly build scalable and interactive mixed reality solutions. With its intuitive visual drag-and-drop interface, along with built-in gesture and voice command capabilities, it allows even non-technical users to create rich MR experiences without needing advanced coding skills or costly design resources. This makes it a game-changer for businesses looking to integrate MR into their operations efficiently.
Terry Farrell, Director of Marketing for Mixed Reality at Microsoft, commented: “The integration of ThingWorx Studio with HoloLens opens up incredible opportunities for industrial customers to create hands-free, immersive MR experiences across key areas like sales, marketing, manufacturing, services, HR, and training. By partnering with PTC, HoloLens users can now develop these experiences faster and more easily, unlocking new possibilities.â€
The partnership between ThingWorx Studio and HoloLens will be showcased at the PTC booth during the conference. Attendees will have the chance to see firsthand how easy it is to create real-world MR applications in enterprise environments. Demonstrations will include a sales and marketing scenario where users can view different product options in front of them, as well as a service application where field technicians can access repair instructions directly within their field of view—completely hands-free thanks to HoloLens.
Mike Campbell, Executive Vice President of the ThingWorx Platform at PTC, added: “Manufacturers today face complex challenges when it comes to designing, developing, operating, and maintaining smart connected products. The combination of ThingWorx Studio and HoloLens provides a simpler, faster, and more cost-effective way to tackle these issues. We're thrilled to partner with Microsoft to help industrial customers gain a competitive edge through the power of mixed reality.â€
